Yes I know, Sinulog Festival is the bomb. The happy people, the festive dance performances, the lit parties, what more can I ask for for my first Sinulog Festival? This experience is surely a memorable one! Why? Read on!
About Sinulog Festival
Sinulog Festival is one of the major festivals celebrated in the country and is distinguished as one of the grandest and most colorful one, with over 1 – 2 million people participating and celebrating coming from different parts of the world. It is annually observed every third week of January in Cebu City, focused on honoring the Catholic’s Santo Niño, who is used to be the patron saint of the province of Cebu. Aside from the religious aspect of the festival, Sinulog also features cheerful and lively performances on the streets, wherein participants are dressed in vibrant and colorful costumes and are dancing their hearts out to the rhythm of drums and native gongs. Night parties and pageants are also held during the festival. Indeed, Sinulog Festival will be a one-for-the-books experience you can have in the province of Cebu!
How I Stayed Connected During The Event
I know how an unstable internet connection is a tragedy for every one of us especially when we travel. We have that urge to stay connected all the time during out trip. We’re always on a search of good internet and the experience gets hassle as we maddeningly hunted for a café, a restaurant, or any place that has a reliable connection and ended up being frustrated with it- which happens most of the time while traveling. Surely there are times that we scored a good one, but it doesn’t happen all the time.
During the Sinulog Festival, I must admit, the signal can be very rough as millions of people are gathering around and are also seizing for a good internet connection. Who doesn’t want to be stably connected?
That’s why I am more than thankful when I finally tried Sun’s newest and widest LTE network!!!!! (Beyond thankful with feelings!)
Sun Cellular’s Big Time Data 70 promo is a total life saver for all of us! For a cost of 70 PHP, you can already access a stable LTE connection for 1GB, with 30 minutes calls to Sun and Unlimited texts to all networks! It was absolutely sulit. Truly, with Sun Cellular’s new LTE network, #GumagandaAngArawMo!
My Experience with #SunSinulog
I arrived in Cebu late afternoon of January 19 (Friday,) perfect to be welcomed by the grandest party of the festival, Life Dance! It’s already on its 7th installment since its commencement last 2012 and it doesn’t get any better! Year by year, the party gets more awesome, unlocking new electronic dance music discoveries as time goes by. It was indeed a lit dance party!! Hardstyle international artists like Dutch duo Yellow Claw, Russian protege DJ Arty, DJ Coone, and Norwegian DJ/producer Fehrplay, and the best local DJs like DEUCE, Nix Damn P!, Ace Ramos, MC Paolo, John Sedano, MVRXX, Victor Jao and Renzo, Sky, AMZ, and Carlo Lasiste are getting down to make your night a blast! LifeDance 2018 is always on point, I tell you.
And oh, kudos to the constant fireworks display!
Yacht Party- Wet Weekend Cebu
This party is absolutely an unforgettable one. Who wouldn’t thought that I would experience partying in a big ass yacht?! All thanks to Sun Cellular, I had this ultimate opportunity! We had everything we need in that yacht: us in the middle of the sea, wine, beers & cocktails, big beds for resting, the one and only Cebu lechon for lunch, hardcore bass music system, and not to mention the fresh sea breeze. There’s nothing more like a Yacht Party!
This party isn’t just a party, it’s a music festival. Imagine your favorite songs played on the stage coordinated with a heavy kick bass with sub bass frequencies accompanied by a high tempo melody, giving you that ecstasy feeling while the melody is taking over your hearing system. Surreal. With artists like Marc Marasigan, X Factor, Gino V, Victor Pring and oh, Showtek, Plus 63 will totally make your night the best one to date! Well, it did to me.
The Grand Parade
“Pit Senyor kang Mama kini, Pit Senyor kang Papa kini!” “Viva Pit Señor!” The Grand Parade was crazy. Talented street dancers conquered the streets of Cebu City. With their colorful and vibrant costumes and their lively dance steps, backdropped by flamboyant decorated platforms, the Grand Parade is absolutely the perfect festival-ender for your Sinulog festival. You can miss every event, but not this one!
Is the travel from Manila to Cebu worth it? Definitely. And I’ll be sure to be back next year!
