Where to book flights?
Take note that there is no airport in Daejeon, South Korea. You may book a flight to Incheon International Airport and go to Daejeon from there.

How to get around?
To get to Daejeon from Seoul, you may ride the Korean Train Express or most commonly known as KTX. You may just go to the ticket counters and say that you’re heading to Daejeon. Trains leave every 20 minutes. Travel time is around 50 minutes. Fare costs W24,000 one way. You may also visit the KTX website (www.letskorail.com) and book your tickets online.

Daejeon has a good subway system that lies on the main train line connecting Seoul and Busan. There are two principal train stations in Daejeon which are served by the KTX. Daejeon Station is located in Jeong-dong, Dong-gu and Seo-Daejeon Station is at 74 Oryu-dong, Jung-gu. The standard fare is W900 for up to 10km and W1,000 beyond that 10km.
- By Bus
Daejeon has a good bus system that goes pretty much anywhere you want to go. There are two types of buses, one in which you stand, costing only W600, and a sit-down bus, where you may have to fight for a seat, that costs W1,200. Most buses in the city run through the downtown area and Daejeon Station. There are also regular city buses and express buses that make fewer stops. Fares for express buses are about twice those of regular buses.

Places to Visit
Jangtaesan Natural Recreation Forest
Jangtaesan Recreational Forest is the only Metasecua forest in Korea. It boasts of gingko trees and bald cypress. The place has a dense forest where you can camp out or lay out a picnic with your loved ones. It offers accommodation facilities, farms, and playgrounds for kids. There are also nearby lush valleys and a sky tower that provides outstanding views. Tourists go to the area to enjoy the man-made and natural forests that make up the Mt. Jangtaesan Natural Recreation Forest. During Autumn, the trails become the most picturesque location for travelers.

Daejeon O-World is a combination of an amusement park, a zoo, and flower gardens. It is formerly known as the Daejeon Zoo. It was established upon the merging of Daejeon Zoo and Joy Land (an amusement park). It is now under the management of Daejeon City Corporation. O-World is home to a total of 600 animals of different species. There is also the Flower Land which offers beautiful gardens like Rose Garden, Four Seasons Garden, Herb Garden, and Maze Garden. The flower gardens provide the perfect spots to take Instagram-worthy photos!
O-World is open from 9:30 AM until 6:00 PM on weekdays and on weekends, it is open from 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM. It is located at 70 Sajeonggongwon-ro, Sajeong-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. To go to O-World from Daejeon City, take the buses 115, 301, 311, 314, 315, or 318 to Daejeon O-World. An individual ticket costs W 12,000.
Daejeon National Science Museum
The National Science Museum in Daejeon is a center of scientific culture. It was once located in Seoul until it was moved to Daejeon in 1990. It exhibits various scientific materials. The Astronomical Hall in the center of the museum is the largest dome in Korea. It also boasts of the only world-class space theater in the country. Aside from this, it also offers the Astrovision which is a special visual device that gives a realistic view of space development. If you love Science, you will definitely enjoy going here!
The museum can be found at 481, Daedeok-daero, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon. It operates every day from 9:30 AM until 5:50 PM except on Mondays and on holidays. The admission fee costs W 2,000.
Daejeon Art and Culture Complex
Daejeon Art and Culture Complex is a cultural facility that is equipped with advanced facilities and systems. It is a place where people can enjoy culture and art. It is home to the Daejeon Culture and Arts Center, as well as the Daejeon Museum of Art. It is a venue where performances like opera, ballet, and musicals take place. Considered as the most prized possession of Daejeon city, it is one of the attractions that you should not miss. The place awed me and it showed how much Korea values culture, arts, and leisure.

Euneungjeongi Culture Street in Eunhaeng-dong is the center of fashion and shopping in Daejeon. It can be found in downtown Daejeon. It is like the famous Myeongdong shopping district in Seoul. It provides a wide array of offerings like food and fashion accessories. It also has wedding boutiques and all sorts of shopping centers. I was so fascinated by how busy and vibrant the street culture is.
Sung Sim Dang, a popular bakery in Daejeon, can also be found here. Don’t forget to drop by and try their famous delicious pastries!
Located at 170, Jungang-ro, Jung-gu, Daejeon, it is easily accessible via public transportation. It opens at 10:30 AM and closes at 10:00 PM.
Ppuri Park which translates to Family Root Park is a recreational park that is full of unique sculptures and beautiful art piece. Each sculpture has a significance to the locals because every sculpture represents a Korean last name. Ppuri Park also has a waterfront stage, a grass square, a recreational forest, a natural observatory, and the Deep-rooted Spring which symbolizes the 12 gods of the Earth. If you would like to have a glimpse of the country’s history, Ppuri Park is a definite must visit in Daejeon. I really had a wonderful time discovering such interesting stories about the fore families of Korea.
Ppuri Park is located at 79 Ppurigongwon-ro, Sanseong-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. It is open every day from 6:00 AM until 10:00 PM. To go here, you may take the buses 312 and 313. Admission fee is W 2,000.

Recently, I was fortunate enough to explore and experience what Daejeon has to offer. And I can testify to its own beauty and charm. Being a city of scientific technologies, there are a lot of interesting things to know about Daejeon. The city has led the future of the country in terms of advanced research and technology, making Daejeon the most optimal city for business in Korea. However, beyond all these, Daejeon is a city that is brimming with wonderful attractions. South Korea is a huge country and the discoveries are endless.
